Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers like are gel-like substances injected into the skin to physically lift and sculpt it, correcting wrinkles, folds, scars and asymmetries of the face.

Dermal fillers are used to soften and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. They are used for shaping of the lips, cheek and chin enhancement to produce a “liquid face lift” through volumising areas where there has been loss of fat.

The safest dermal fillers are non-permanent gels made from Hyaluronic Acid. Because hyaluronic acid is naturally present in the skin, but declines with aging, dermal fillers made from these substances are an ideal choice for rejuvenation.

As we age, our face becomes like a partially deflated balloon.  The face gradually looses fat and bone mass and reduced muscle tone. This causes the face to deflate, leading to flattening of the cheek structure, lines and wrinkles, thinning of the lips and sagging of the jowls.

Dermal fillers are used to replace the lost fat and bone structures, re-inflating the face to produce a very natural look that generally takes years off the look of your face.  Generally this will give a much more “natural” appearance than a facelift.

Dermal Fillers are excellent treatments that provide aesthetic solutions for a range of common facial concerns.

  • Fine to deep wrinkles and creases
  • Lip enhancement
  • Cheek Enhancement
  • Chin Enhancement
  • Nasolabial lines (lines that run downwards on the side of the nose)
  • Marionettes (lines on the side of the cheeks)
  • Oral commissure (sad mouth)
  • Treating scars
  • Hydration

FAQ

What is Dermal Filler?

At Pour Moi we use Hyaluronic Acid based fillers. Hyaluronic (HA) is a natural-forming sugar molecule, found in the eyes, joints, and skin. So that HA can be used for cosmetic injections, raw HA is cross-linked and manufactured into an injectable gel.

HA fillers are biodegradable and bio- compatible; there is no need for pre testing, very minimal risk of allergies and little likelihood of side effects.

What do I expect during the treatment Dermal Filler?

A full medical history will be taken prior to your treatment and you will have an opportunity to discuss any aspects of the procedure with your clinician.

You will need to complete medical history and a consent form before your treatment and photographs of the area to be treated will be taken.

Your clinician will explain the treatment options available and discuss with you the best one for you.

Immediate Results

Dermal Filler treatments give immediate results, unlike Botulinum treatments, which can take between 5-14 days.

A combination treatment of Dermal Filler to correct volume loss, treat fine to deep wrinkles and enhancements together with Botulinum provides excellent results and longevity.

Is the treatment painful?

Dermal filler treatments may cause discomfort during and after the injection. Modern dermal fillers now include local anaesthetic Lidocaine in the filler making the treatment much more comfortable.

Beth may also choose to anaesthetize the treatment area to minimise the discomfort even further.

Side Effects

The most common side effect is temporary discomfort and possible bruising and swelling.  It is best to plan treatments when you don’t have “special events” coming up for a week or more.

It is best if you don’t exercise just before and after your treatment and avoid aspirin or anti-inflammatories for two weeks before treatment if you want to minimize bruising.

It is very rare with temporary fillers to have problems after the first two days but it is possible to have an allergy to the product.  This is very rare and at Pour Moi we have a product called Hyalase, which is an enzyme to breakdown the product if an allergy ever occurred.

How long is the treatment and how long does the results last?

The treatment takes between 30mins-45mins depending on the area being treated. Allow for an hour for the appointment. The results are visible immediately. The gel integrates into the skin for immediate long lasting results that last between 6-12 months and sometimes longer.

How do I look after myself after the treatment?

After treatment, you should allow your skin to rest, and should not apply make-up for at least 1 hour.

Avoid touching the treated area.

You should also avoid using a sauna or steam bath for 2 weeks after treatment. This helps prevent swelling and bruising.

Please avoid sun and UV light exposure, cold, and pressure of any kind on the treated areas until the products integrates well into the skin.
